How Much Time Do You Need to Prepare for an IIBA Exam?

The core IIBA exams—ECBA, CCBA, and CBAP—require thorough preparation. Here's how to approach it:

1. Obtain IIBA Membership & BABOK Guide

  • Purchase your IIBA membership and download the BABOK Guide for free.

  • Start completing your exam application.

2. Study the BABOK Guide

  • The Guide contains 11 chapters and 456 pages.

  • Aim to read it 2-4 times for better understanding.

  • A good timeline is one chapter per week, which totals 11 weeks.

3. Take a Certification Prep Course

  • Depending on the exam, you'll earn 21 or 35 professional development hours.

  • Our courses can be completed in a month:

    • ECBA/CCBA: 7 Zoom sessions, 3 hours each.

    • CBAP: 10 Zoom sessions, 3.5 hours each.

  • You can study the BABOK in parallel with the course.

  • After completing the course, finish your IIBA exam application and schedule your exam.

4. Review and Practice

  • After the course, review the BABOK Guide again, focusing on key concepts.

  • Practice with at least 3-5 sample exams.

  • Our courses include exam-style practice questions and give you one additional week of practice access after the course ends.

Total Preparation Time

  • You’ll need about 120-140 hours of preparation.

  • By dedicating 12 hours a week, you can be ready to take the exam within 3 months.
